The heart of Overtown will beat a bit faster this month at the sixth annual Overtown Music Arts Festival. In partnership with the Southeast Overtown Park West Community Redevelopment Agency, City of Miami District 5 Commissioner Keon Hardemon, and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Annual Overtown Music & Arts Festival promises to promote the growing business and residential community while showcasing the soul of Overtown. Free to the public, the festival runs July 23, 2016 from 11am -7pm.
Known as “Miami’s Little Broadway “during the 1960s, Overtown continues to attract talent from across the nation. This year, “Towners” and people across Miami can anticipate an exciting musical lineup of award winning artists at the festival including Eric Benet, Tito Puente Jr. and Jeremih.
Aside from the musical showcase, adults and children can enjoy a variety of ethnic-cuisine, artwork, crafts, and jewelry. Kids of all ages can also enjoy the Youth Zone, hosted by the Teens Exercising Extraordinary Success nonprofit, which will provide arts and crafts, face painting, bounce houses, karaoke, and fun fitness activities. For over four years, the Overtown Music Arts Festival has attracted over 5,000 people.
