One of the centerpieces of our Miami Worldcenter plan is a pedestrian-friendly promenade. A space where residents and visitors can stroll, window shop, attend a yoga class and grab an ice cream cone. This month, Downtown Miami has the opportunity is getting a first-hand look at what could be.

Biscayne Green

The 20 day pilot project has transformed the Biscayne Park Metromover station and two Biscayne Boulevard parking pods to the north in to active public space.  101 parking spaces have been covered in sod, turf, mulch and paint to create a dog park, playground, stage and lounge.

Events planned for the space include:

  • January 14th, Taste of Downtown from 8-10 pm – Downtown Miami’s culinary masters will be sharing tasty bites.
  • January 19th, Flamenco Al Fresco from 7-10pm – Learn to dance flamenco with the Arsht Center.
  • January 22nd, Bike305 Community Bike Ride and Breakfast Refuel from 9 to 1pm – Celebrate a morning bike ride with a tasty brunch.
  • January 26th, Biscayne Green Last Hoorah from 7 to 10pm – The final event promises to close the project with a bang.

Biscayne Green is a project of the Miami Downtown Development Authority and was funded through a grant from the Knight Foundation and Miami Foundation.  The installation hopes to build support for a long-term project that reclaims four parking pods and two traffic lanes.

Building a City Reimagined: Construction Job Fair 2016

With the foundation pour complete and the next construction phase beginning, we’re gearing up for the upward momentum of Miami Worldcenter by hosting a job fair.

Residents of Downtown Miami and its surrounding neighborhoods are encouraged to attend the Miami Worldcenter Construction Job Fair on Thursday, October 27th, 2016 from 10am-2pm at the Greater Bethel AME Church located at 245 NW 8th Street in Miami.

The team will be accepting applications for skilled and unskilled construction workers needed to complete our highly anticipated mixed-use development. Plumbers, carpenters, concrete finishers, painters, laborers and job seekers of other trades are welcome. Work for these positions will begin in November.

Our development team aims to create jobs specifically for residents of in-need areas of Miami-Dade County. In addition to attending the upcoming fair, job seekers are encouraged to apply online to take advantage of these opportunities as the development rises.

Occupying 27 acres in the heart of downtown Miami, Miami Worldcenter is one of the largest private real estate developments underway in the United States. The ten-block project will include world-class retail, hospitality and residential uses in the center of Miami’s urban core. All told, the project is expected to account for $2 billion in new investment within downtown Miami.

A Foundation to Build Upon in Downtown Miami

The latest construction milestone at Miami Worldcenter will be an all-night affair – literally. This weekend, a crew of more than 700 workers and 100 concrete trucks will pour the foundation for PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter condominium and the development’s first phase of high-street retail.

The foundation pour will take more than 30 hours, beginning at 1:00 am Saturday morning and lasting into Sunday morning. Completion of the foundation will open the door to the start of vertical construction later this year.

“We are excited about coordinating this massive pour for this landmark project that will transform the Downtown Miami skyline. It has been an honor to work alongside Dan Kodsi, Nitin Motwani and Art Falcone, and we look forward to bringing their vision for PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter one step closer to reality,” said Tom Murphy, Jr., chairman and CEO of Coastal Construction Group.

PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter

Due to the large size of the PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter foundation pour, there will be temporary road closures taking place this weekend beginning Friday morning:

1. NE 8th Street between NE 1st Avenue and NE 2nd Avenue will be closed
2. Traffic along NE 1st Avenue between NE 6th Street and NE 10th Street will be limited to one lane
3. NE 10th Street between NE 1st Avenue and NE 2nd Avenue will be closed

Normal traffic flow will be restored once the pour concludes Sunday morning.
